Say hello to Setup IQ – probably our most ambitious feature release to date, and the reason we’re stepping up to Delta 6.0.
For years, it’s been the same message across the sim racing space of ‘our pro setups are the best’, but a setup is only as good as how well it fits you. There’s almost always lap time left on the table, because setups were never shaped around the way you drive. They were just made to be ‘the fastest’ or ‘the meta’ or for ‘esports’.
Setup IQ changes that. It analyses your laps and the setup you are using, spots exactly what’s holding you back in the setup, and adapts it to your driving style automatically. No more guesswork, no more changing one click at a time and hoping. Setup IQ will give you faster, more natural lap times in the car, with a setup that will finally feel like it was built for you.
The initial launch version of Setup IQ will work with Le Mans Ultimate and Assetto Corsa Competizione, with more games being added at a later date.
How Setup IQ Works
Setup IQ runs on a four-step process:
- Open Delta: Open the Delta app and leave it running in the background on your PC.
- Enter a session: Jump into any offline or online event with any car and track combination, load a setup and Delta will analyse your driving style.
- Auto Tune the setup: Back in the garage hit Auto Tune, and Setup IQ tunes the setup you just drove, making adjustments automatically based on what your driving is telling it.
- Hit the track: Select your new custom-made setup from the setup screen and get back out there to unlock even more lap time. Repeat as many times as you like to get the desired result.
That’s it. You drive, Setup IQ studies, and your setup evolves around the way you drive.
Setup IQ Works With Any Setup
This is the part we love. Setup IQ isn’t locked to Coach Dave setups – it works with any setups you have. An in-game default, a Coach Dave setup, your own home-brew, a teammate’s setup, and even setups from another setup shop. If you can load a setup into the game, Setup IQ can tune it.
Start by loading the setup you want to work with, complete a few laps, head back to the garage and get ready for the magic to happen. The first time you Auto Tune, Setup IQ creates and saves a brand-new setup to your PC, named something like “IQ V1 Default” or “IQ V4 Coach Dave” – IQ will be in the name so you know where it comes from.
Every time you press Auto Tune and save, a new version lands alongside the last one. Before long you’ve got a whole library of tailored variations of the original setup you started with to compare, and then you get the final say on which one suits you best.
A few important points:
- Make sure the setup you are going to use is saved in your setup menu. If you plan to use the default setups from in the game, you MUST save it as a setup first so Setup IQ detects it
- If you wish to change your setup at any point for Setup IQ to use, click the ‘I’ve changed my setup’ button and Setup IQ will be ready to run its magic again
- For ACC, you will need to select the setup you used to set your laps using the ‘my own setup file’ button before you hit Auto Tune. If you tried to hit Auto Tune without selecting a setup, it won’t do anything, and it will ask you to manually select the file first because ACC doesn’t have automatic detection

Getting the Most Out of Setup IQ
Setup IQ gets smarter the more you feed it, so a little method goes a long way. Our recommendations are:
- Complete at least 5 laps on each variation before you tune again. Those laps are what give Setup IQ enough clean telemetry to properly study your driving and make the right call on the next adjustment
- Run between 3 and 8 Auto Tune iterations of any given setup. That range should be the sweet spot for honing in on your ideal balance without chasing your tail, or finding the setup moving further away from you again. Remember they all save to your files anyway, so it’s easy to revert back to any of them at any point
What’s Achievable with Setup IQ
We’ve had Setup IQ out in the wild for a week now, and the early results speak for themselves. What’s achievable with Setup IQ?
We’ve highlighted two use cases using the in-game default setups in Le Mans Ultimate, the same baseline everyone has access to.
Streamer Alex Kay put Setup IQ to the test using the Duqueine D09 LMP3 around Spa in Le Mans Ultimate. Using Setup IQ, he didn’t just get quick; after a few Auto Tunes, he was able to take the default setup, tailored to his driving style, and beat the Coach Dave pro reference lap, topping the Delta leaderboards by almost four tenths.

Harry Phillips took the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo to Bahrain Outer in Le Mans Ultimate, again on the in-game default. In just one hour, using Auto Tune eight times, he took his lap time from a 1:14.2 down to a 1:12.7, putting him second on the leaderboards behind the Coach Dave pro – but crucially, a full 1.5 seconds found from the default setup because it was enhanced and improved to match his driving.

Setup IQ takes whatever setup you’re starting from and shapes it around you, so you can extract the best lap times from it. Even an ‘esports’ or ‘meta’ setup will be improved with Setup IQ because it becomes tailored to you.
