Assetto Corsa Evo Car Garage Guide

Learn the ins and outs of the AC Evo car garage and how not all specs of a manufacturer are the same

With so many tempting cars to explore in Assetto Corsa Evo, it can be tricky to navigate your way directly to the one you desire. Like every racing game, AC Evo has an in-depth garage system to help players select the vehicle, and trim, that they’re looking to take out for a spin.

In this guide, Coach Dave Academy will outline how the garage setup in AC Evo works, and explain how selecting the exact car you’re looking for is easier to find than you may think.

Getting To The Garage Screen

When you first open AC Evo, you’ll be taken to the main menu screen. While you can select the car you want directly from the single-player race section, to enter the bespoke vehicle garage you’ll need to navigate to the ‘Vehicles’ tab along the top of the main menu screen. Once there, click the large ‘Garage’ tab presented to you.

The Amount Of Different Car Combinations Can Be Confusing

Once loaded, you’ll be faced with the car you last used. You can look around the car using the mouse controls and play around with its lights, doors, etc if you wish, or you can choose to select another of your pride and joys.

AC Evo’s developers, Kunos Simulazioni, have tried their best to make the vehicle garage as clean and easy to use as possible. This was especially important as aside from the usual manufacturers and models to choose from, most vehicles in the game also have differing trim levels available.

  • These will vary depending on the model you opt for, though most will come with a range of aesthetic changes at a minimum.
  • Options include different wheels, special exterior colours, a range of different interior trims, and more.
  • Some even have performance modifications, such as the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. Aside from the standard model, you also have the choice of the 1LE trim, which comes with a more aggressive aero package, more power, and a sharper chassis setup.
  • There are also different specifications of race cars included within the game, such as the Mazda MX-5 Cup, where applicable.
  • In real life, there are versions of the car with an H-pattern manual gearbox and some with a sequential unit, and either can be selected in-game to enjoy.

Depending on whether you want to change to a completely different manufacturer’s vehicle, another model from the same brand as the car you’re already in, or simply a different trim level of the car you’re using, there are varying ways to streamline the choosing process.

Changing To A Different Manufacturers Vehicle

Should you fancy a completely different vehicle from another manufacturer, you need to select the tab on the far left side of the screen featuring the manufacturer logo. You’ll then be presented with tabs representing every manufacturer in the game, ordered alphabetically.

When you’ve selected the brand, you can then go through and choose whichever model and trim level you want, before being taken back to the main garage screen with your selected vehicle.

Changing To A Different Model From The Same Manufacturer

Should you want to change your car model, but it’s produced by the same manufacturer, then opting for the next tab on the right, which features your current car model name, is the way to go. When clicking this, you’ll be shown all the models available from the brand, allowing you to select another model and trim level without having to navigate through the manufacturer’s screen.

Should you change your mind and want to jump in a car from a different marque, a smaller manufacturer selection tab is placed at the top of the screen.

Changing To A Different Trim Level

If you only fancy switching the trim level of your selected vehicle, like changing the Camaro ZL1 to the ZL1 1LE, then the furthest-right tab is your friend. It’s displayed as having the car model along the top half of the tab, with the trim name along the bottom half. When selecting this, you’ll be faced with a menu containing all the available trim lines.

Simply select which one you want, and you’ll quickly arrive back at the main garage screen without having to navigate through the whole vehicle selection menu.

Wrapping Up

Aside from the car selection screen, there is also a small ‘Customise’ tab along the very bottom left of the screen. This can be used to spec your vehicle the way you want, allowing you to choose from a range of wheels, colours, interior trim, and other modifications. Next to this, the currently greyed-out dealership tab can be selected to go and purchase a new ride once it becomes active.

The system has been designed by Kunos to quicken up the car selection process, especially for those who simply want to change to another model made by the same manufacturer or a different trim level of a particular car. At the end of the day, the less time you spend on the menus, the more time you can push your chariot to its limits on the road or track. This will help even more in future, as Kunos adds more manufacturers, models, and vehicle trims as the game’s early access period continues.
