The 0.1.5 update for Assetto Corsa EVO introduces exciting new features, including special events. With active online servers, the game continues to evolve into a more immersive and competitive racing simulator. This article will break down the key highlights of the update and explain what players can expect from these new additions.
Going Online
To participate in these online events, you must first enable online mode under Settings > Gameplay > Online Mode and apply the changes.
Once the online mode is activated and you create an online profile, Assetto Corsa EVO will allocate 70,000 in-game dollars for the first purchase. For now, you can choose between seven starting cars:
- Abarth 695 Biposto
- Ford Escort RS Cosworth
- Alfa Romeo Junior Elettrica Veloce
- Honda S2000
- Audi RS3 Sportback
- Hyundai i30 N Hatchback
- Volkswagen Golf Mk 8 GTI Clubsport
This list may change in future updates. After you create an online profile and select the first car, you can access special events, the dealership and the driver academy.
Assetto Corsa EVO 0.1.5 introduced a more structured in-game economy. Players can now purchase or rent cars if their driving licence is sufficient to unlock them. Progressing through the driver academy gradually unlocks more vehicles. This system ensures players have various options to access different car classes while maintaining a sense of progression.
Special Events
Special events provide structured challenges in addition to the standard practice or AI races. While still in early development, this new feature offers a range of racing scenarios that test player skill and consistency.
Currently, only one type of special event is available: the hotstint. It is a time-based challenge that lets players compete for top spots on the leaderboard. Unlike standard hot laps, these events measure a driver’s consistency over an extended period, rather than just a single lap.
The cars for these events are already provided, so you do not need to purchase or rent cars to participate. This allows for immediate access to competitive racing without additional in-game costs.
You can also adjust driving assists for these events, making them accessible for newcomers and experienced sim racers. While these challenges may not be relevant for beginners, they provide an excellent opportunity for players to push their limits and improve their lap times.
You earn 1,000 in-game dollars and 5,000 experience for completing an event. If you enjoy the competitive aspect of these events, you can see where you stand in the online leaderboards.
Six special events are available in the 0.1.5 update, each with a set duration and specific track conditions:
- SE-01: Imola in the Mazda MX-5.
- SE-02: Brands Hatch GP in the Toyota GR86.
- SE-03: Suzuka West in the Honda S2000. This event will test your driving skills in wet weather.
- SE-04: Mount Panorama in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. A test of handling and precision on the legendary Bathurst circuit.
- SE-05: Brands Hatch Indy in the Alpine A290, a unique challenge in the electric car.
- SE-06: Laguna Seca at Night in the Alfa Romeo at night.
Two more types of special events are planned for future updates:
- Track challenges. These events focus on mastering specific corners or sections of a track.
- Race scenarios. These will introduce unique race conditions and objectives for players to complete.
Driver Academy
Driver Academy is a licensing system that helps players to develop their skills before driving high-performance cars. The structure is as follows:
- Entry licence grants access to basic starter vehicles.
- Sportscar licence is unlocked after completing the first driving academy challenges.
- Supercar and hypercar licences are earned progressively through additional licence challenges.
- Racing licences (1, 2, 3) are required for track-focused cars.
Each AC Evo licensing challenge includes skill-based tasks such as mastering hairpin turns, controlling powerful cars and driving in wet conditions. The system is similar to the progression in Gran Turismo with a structured approach to vehicle access.
Final Thoughts
The Assetto Corsa Evo 0.1.5 update delivers online functionality, including driver progression and special events. With the driver academy and hotstints, more players will hone their skills and compete online. Stay tuned for future updates, and get ready to hit the track!
