Moza ventured into sim racing in 2021 and is a rapidly growing brand in the industry, renowned for producing high-quality, innovative, and competitively priced racing simulation hardware. They aim to bring sim racing hardware to cover the entire spectrum. From smaller 3NM direct drive bases for Xbox to massive 21NM direct drive bases on PC and everything in between.
Moza also has an extensive product eco-system that ventures out of direct drive bases and covers everything from Pedals, Wheels, Shifters, Handbrakes and even Dashboards to use with Moza wheel bases.
In this guide, however, we will be focusing on three of their best sellers, the R5, R9 and R12 direct drive bases – which many users are finding fit perfectly for their sim racing on iRacing. What some users do struggle with, though, is finding the right settings to really extract the most from them.
Here is our guide on settings up your Moza direct drive wheel base on iRacing.

Setting up your Moza Direct Drive Wheelbase in iRacing
This is a three-step process:
Step 1: Make sure your Moza wheelbase and any peripherals that come with it, are all connected to your PC or USB on the wheelbase itself, such as your pedals, handbrakes or shifters.
Step 2: Make sure you have the correct software and drivers installed for your Moza base to work properly. This is via Pit House, Moza’s in-house software. This will allow you to adjust any FFB settings for your wheel and check you are on the latest firmware. Download MOZA Pit House here.
Step 3: Before getting stuck into the MOZA settings, you need to hit the configure button for iRacing. In The Game Launcher of MOZA Pit House, simply find iRacing and hit the configure button. If the game is not automatically detected, just click “launch from the custom path” and direct Moza Pit House to your iRacing executable file. Then, you can hit the configure button, and you are good to go.
Moza Pit House Software (Base Settings for All)
Set these in your Moza software through the basic and advanced settings before launching iRacing, recommended for all three models:
Settings | Recommended Value |
Steering Angle | 900° (adjust per car — e.g. 540° for formula cars) |
Road Sensitivity | 9 |
Feedback Intensity | 100% |
Steering Wheel Speed | 50% |
Game Force Feedback Intensity | 100% |
Mechanical Back to Center | 0% |
Mechanical Damper | 40% |
Soft-Limit | 10 |
Mechanical Friction | 20% (add only if you want more weight) |
Mechanical Inertia | 200% |
Handoff Protection | Optional: turn OFF if it interferes during high-speed countersteer |
FFB Filter | OFF |
FFB Smoothing | 1–2 (0 for most feel, 2+ for smoother) |
iRacing In-Game Settings (Per Wheel Base)
Here’s where things get tailored per model – mainly based on wheel torque and how strong you want the force feedback to feel.
Moza R5 (5.5Nm) iRacing Settings
Setting | Recommended |
Wheel Force | 5.5 Nm |
Max Force | 20–25 Nm (lower for stronger FFB) |
Damping | 0% |
Min Force | 0% |
Use Linear Mode | ON |
Reduce Force When Parked | ON |
The R5 has less headroom, so lower your Max Force for more punch, but be careful of clipping. Use 20 Nm for most road cars; go up to 25 for very bumpy tracks.
Moza R9 (9Nm) iRacing Settings
Setting | Recommended |
Wheel Force | 9 Nm |
Max Force | 35–45 Nm (start at 40 Nm and tweak per car) |
Damping | 0% |
Min Force | 0% |
Use Linear Mode | ON |
Reduce Force When Parked | ON |
The R9 has the best bang-for-buck settings. The R9 has enough power for strong FFB but still benefits from slight smoothing or damping if it feels too lively.
Moza R12 (12Nm) iRacing Settings
Setting | Recommended |
Wheel Force | 12 Nm |
Max Force | 45–55 Nm (50 is a great starting point) |
Damping | 0% |
Min Force | 0% |
Use Linear Mode | ON |
Reduce Force When Parked | ON |
The R12 gives you more fidelity and resistance over the R5 or R9 bases. You can run higher Max Force to reduce clipping, especially in high-downforce cars like the LMPs or Formula 3.
Additional Tips
- Always use “Use Linear Mode” ON for best accuracy with Moza DD wheels
- Dial in per-car Max Force to avoid clipping and maintain feel
- If you see clipping (force meter maxed out), either lower in-game Max Force or reduce in Pit House Game Intensity
- Pair with SimHub dashboards for even more immersion with Lovely Dash or custom Moza dashes
The settings provided for the Moza R5, R9, and R12 wheelbases in iRacing are based on a combination of official recommendations, community-tested configurations, as well as in-house confirmation. These settings aim to deliver a balanced and immersive force feedback experience tailored to each wheelbase’s capabilities.
