Asetek iRacing Settings – La Prima, Forte & Invicta

An in-depth settings guide for Asetek wheelbases to use with iRacing.

Asetek is one of the most established technology development companies in the computing space, the firm having first been established in 1997. It initially focused primarily on developing cooling systems for PCs, with its first product being the VapoChill, which made its debut in 1999. It later expanded into cooling for other components, such as GPUs, before embarking on tackling the sim racing space.

Having struggled to get five simulators working together at the same time, Asetek was inspired to start designing its own sim racing hardware and software, and thus Asetek SimSports was born. This side of the company was established in 2021, and it has since gone on to develop a range of wheelbases, steering wheels, and pedals, among other accessories.

In this guide, Coach Dave Academy will share the best settings to start with in iRacing for each of the three wheelbases Asetek currently offers. While we know that FFB is subjective, meaning you may need to make your own tweaks further down the road, these settings will give you a solid base to start from.

Setting Up Your Asetek Wheelbase In iRacing

Step 1: Make sure your wheelbase, or any other peripherals you’re using, are plugged in correctly. While the wheelbase should be plugged directly into the back of your PC, your Asetek pedals and other accessories from the brand should be plugged into the back of the wheelbase via USB-C. If you’re using any equipment built by a different manufacturer, you’ll need to plug it directly into the rear of your PC.

Step 2: From here, you’ll need to make sure you have the correct drivers and software downloaded on your PC to ensure your kit will work. RaceHub can be downloaded directly from Asetek’s website, and is used to tweak the settings on your wheel, pedals, or shifter to perfection.

Step 3: Once RaceHub is installed on your PC, you’ll be able to access the FFB settings for whichever Asetek direct drive wheelbase you own. The cheapest of the lot is the 12Nm La Prima, the middle-range option is 18 Nm Forte, while the range-topping and most expensive of the trio is the Invicta, which is capable of outputting 27 Nm of torque.

iRacing In-Game Settings (Per Wheelbase)

While the settings for each wheel are largely similar within Asetek’s RaceHub software, you’ll need to make changes specific to each wheelbase once you start setting up the unit within iRacing’s software.

If you fancy improving your driving along with your FFB settings, why not try Coach Dave Delta, which offers telemetry and AI Coaching in one place.

Asetek La Prima (12Nm) iRacing Settings

SettingRecommended
Strength2.2 (Use as starting point, use iRacing’s Auto FFB function in F9 Black Box to dial it in per car)
Wheel Force12 Nm
Intensity45%
Smoothing0%
Damping0%
Min Force0%
Reduce Force When ParkedOn

The La Prima is the entry-level wheelbase, so you may suffer from clipping and less responsive FFB if you push it to its limits. Keep an eye on the FFB meter in-game to ensure you’re not getting clipping with your current settings, and tweak accordingly.

Asetek Forte (18Nm) iRacing Settings

SettingRecommended
Strength3.5 (Use as starting point, use iRacing’s Auto FFB function in F9 Black Box to dial it in per car)
Wheel Force18 Nm
Intensity50%
Smoothing0%
Damping0%
Min Force0%
Reduce Force When ParkedOn

The Forte is a great choice for most drivers, and provides a nice amount of performance headroom beyond what you’ll likely need when racing. This will prove the best balance for many, given you’ll likely never need more than 13 Nm of pure strength, which makes the chances of clipping low.

Asetek Invicta (27Nm) iRacing Settings

SettingRecommended
Strength5.5 (Use as starting point, use iRacing’s Auto FFB function in F9 Black Box to dial it in per car)
Wheel Force24 Nm
Intensity60%
Smoothing0%
Damping0%
Min Force0%
Reduce Force When ParkedOn

The Invicta’s 27 Nm of torque is way above what the vast majority of drivers will ever need, though it’s the extra fidelity afforded by its construction that will make the difference here. Considering the nearly $500 difference between it and the Forte, the latter will likely prove a better bang-for-buck for most.

Additional Tips

  • Make sure to select ‘Linear Mode’ in the iRacing settings, as this will provide the FFB best accuracy for DD wheelbases.
  • If clipping becomes a problem, turn down the Wheel Force setting in-game or the Overall Force setting in the RaceHub software.

The setting provides for the Asetek La Prima, Forte, and Invicta were collated using official recommendations, community-developed settings, as well as in-house confirmation. These values aim to offer a balanced and intricate experience for a wide range of sim racers, and are best suited to each wheelbase’s peak capability. Changes may need to be made depending on personal feel, but these will provide good bases to start from.
