V1.3 brings a lot to the table. The final ELMS pack, meaningful performance gains, and a host of new layouts. But the headline addition for endurance racing fans is one nobody saw coming as a freebie: the Genesis GMR-001 Hypercar is in Le Mans Ultimate, and every player gets it at no extra cost. In this guide, we give you an introduction to this new machine, some key characteristics of the new car, and, of course, brand-new pro setups for the GMR-001 to get you up and running!
A Car With All The Hype
The GMR-001 is Genesis Magma Racing’s LMDh-spec prototype coming to the IRL grid this 2026 season. As an LMDh machine, it’s eligible to race in both the FIA WEC Hypercar class, which it will in 2026, and the IMSA GTP class, which it plans to in 2027.
The chassis was developed in collaboration with renowned French constructor Oreca, while the body was designed by Genesis Design Europe, drawing on Korean aesthetics and an aggressive, aero-focused silhouette. Under the body sits a 3.2-litre twin-turbocharged V8, paired with the hybrid system, producing a combined output of around 670hp.
July 2025 saw the GMR-001 fire up for the first time, and the programme never let up from there. A gruelling test schedule across Paul Ricard, Magny-Cours, and Barcelona had the car race-ready well before the 2026 WEC season. Genesis Magma Racing will line up with two cars and six drivers this year, hoping to take it to the big boys of endurance racing.

What to Expect in the Sim
Sharing the same hybrid LMDh architecture as the Porsche 963, BMW M Hybrid V8, and Cadillac V-Series.R already in the game, the GMR-001 slots straight into the Hypercar class. Expect a twin-turbo V8 soundtrack and the kind of performance that can genuinely trouble the Le Mans Hypercar grid going forward. We are sure Le Mans Ultimate won’t have made it a bad choice to race.
The game launches with the #17 entry only, with the #19 car to follow at a later date. In the #17, the Korean brand’s first two factory drivers, André Lotterer and Pipo Derani, share the wheel with Trajectory Programme graduate Mathys Jaubert, a pairing that blends multiple Le Mans victories’ worth of experience with one of the most exciting young talents in endurance racing.

GMR-001 Characteristics
The Genesis is best described as an easier-to-drive and improved version of the Alpine, with which it also shares the chassis in real life. It also shares the Alpine’s tendency to run at low rake while inheriting some of its struggles over larger bumps due to a rear end that sits quite low to the ground.
Its greatest asset lies in low-speed performance and exceptional rotation, though this comes with a caveat: too much on-throttle rotation can be an issue, so setups are deliberately built to counteract that.
Straightline speed appears to be an early weakness, and unlike most Hypercars, the Genesis offers only two gear ratios, “short” and “lemans”, with the short option being the go-to choice for the majority of tracks.
The car’s low rear roll stiffness can also lead to front locking when braking and turning simultaneously, so be careful of that. Adjusting the BB can help counter some of it naturally. Overall, the Genesis is expected to shine on low-speed, technical circuits while struggling on high-speed tracks with long straights.

Is The GMR-001 Right For You
Overall, the GMR-001 brings a distinctive new flavour to the grid. If you like how the Alpine drives, you will get along with the Genesis. However, it might be slightly trickier for a beginner to get on top of due to some of its characteristics.
The GMR will also teach you how to brake in a straight line, because braking and turning simultaneously in this Hypercar can cause you to lock the front wheels up, which you don’t want.
Because early indications say this car is going to shine on lower-speed technical circuits, it might be better suited to aggressive and experienced drivers, who know how to extract the maximum from the tyres, the setup and the car.
| Pros | Cons |
| Exceptional rotation | Lacking straightline speed |
| Stable and planted | Easy to lock the front wheels |
| V8 engine sounds excellent | Struggles over larger bumps |
