Assetto Corsa Competizione is still widely loved by the sim racing community, and the proof is in the pudding. You only have to look at the Steam Chart numbers, and it’s easy to see why. With a plethora of GT3 models from multiple generations of racing, to the slower GT4 and GT2 classes, and impressive one-make cars completing the car line ups, to having many of the GT World Challenge circuits present in the game and even the Nurbugring Nordschleife.
With this in mind, using third-party apps to make your experience more immersive or more streamlined is essential. In this article, we’ll be taking a dive into 5 of the most must-have apps for ACC.
How Do Apps Work with ACC?
Third-party apps are programs that can be run outside of ACC that help to enhance your experience. They can do all sorts of different things, with some running alongside your ACC and others running outside of ACC to make your time in the sim all the more exciting and enjoyable.
Most of the apps on this list don’t require much in the way of installation. It’s typically just a matter of downloading them and opening them. Most apps can also be set to open when starting up your computer, too, meaning you can just get up and go racing.
Coach Dave Delta
It wouldn’t be a list of must-have apps for ACC without us mentioning Coach Dave Delta! For many sim racers, it’s the go-to app to have, with class-leading app supporting multiple titles, including iRacing, Le Mans Ultimate, and even console titles such as Gran Turismo 7!
Delta is an all-in-one companion app that, unlike many of its competitors, does not require you to have a web browser open to access.
It automatically downloads the latest ACC setups, synchronising the tyre pressures to the on-track conditions of your server of choice, and extracts your on-track data and telemetry so that you can look back at your hotlaps and races after the session.
With built-in AI Coaching that identifies areas of further development on top of all of this, Leaderboards to see where you rank in the world of drivers, and the ability to book expert coaching from a member of our team from a button in the app, Delta has a little bit of everything to help you realise your potential!
- All Pro GT3, GT4, GT2 Meta Setups in ACC
- AI Coaching for Sector by Sector Gains
- Compete for ACC Delta Leaderboard Places
- The Best Telemetry App to Improve Your Lap
Awesome Simracing
In our article on the must-have apps for iRacing, we discussed the legendary Trading Paints that acts as a tool to allow you to share and download custom liveries for that extra personal touch. Awesome Simracing provides a similar service for ACC.
The app runs in the background and downloads liveries for any community that you “follow”. This means that you always have the latest liveries for that next league race, including for some of our wonderful Communities over on our sister site, SimGrid! It allows you to have a full grid of beautiful custom liveries and cleans up the storage afterwards so that you aren’t surprised by a gigabytes-big folder on your drive!
ACC Admin
If you’re running a league or an event, sometimes you’ll want to spice up the action with custom grids and reverse-grid races. That’s where ACC Admin comes in.
All that you need to set up your custom list is a simple JSON file. From there, you can force individual drivers to drive certain cars, have certain numbers, carry a certain level of ballast or air restrictor. Once the race is done, if you want to run a reverse-grid race, you can use the “Race Results” tool to generate a new grid for the second race where you’ve reversed as many places as you so wish.
Crew Chief
Okay, technically, we’re cheating again with this one. Crew Chief is a must-have for all sim racers, full stop. And that’s because it’s something that can be run in all major sim racing titles.
ACC’s built-in spotter is effective and useful, but some sim racers will want additional details. They’ll want to know which corner in Sector 2 has a yellow flag, or who has gone off to cause it. They’ll want to know whether they are hitting their targets on lap time or fuel consumption, and the rate at which the gap to the next car is changing. Crew Chief does all that and more, and in some cases can be commanded using your voice for an even more immersive experience.
RaceLabApps
Much like Crew Chief does for your spotter, or Delta does for your setups and coaching, RaceLab adds an extra element to your sim racing overlays, both in ACC and other leading sim racing titles.
Whilst ACC’s default overlays are effective and fit for purpose for most sim racers, RaceLab’s go a step further. Through custom overlays and elements, you can look at both the overall standings and your relative standings at the same time.
In addition to knowing your current fuel level and your consumption on the last lap, you can look at 5-lap and 10-lap averages to see how they transform over the course of a stint. It can even enhance your in-game proximity radar by showing you how many cars are around you and how close they are to you.
