Getting Started & Installation
Everything you need to get Coach Dave Delta up and running for the first time.
Q: Do setups install automatically, or do I need to download them manually?
All Coach Dave setups install completely automatically when you join a session with supported content; there is no manual download process. Simply have Delta running in the background, then join any online or offline session with a supported car/track combination; setups will install into your game’s setup folder/garage setup menu instantly. The only exception is console players, who must use the Console Wizard to manually enter setup values since consoles don’t support automatic installation. There is intentionally no “download all” button. Setups are delivered on demand to protect the setup database from subscription abuse.
Q: How do I set up Delta for iRacing or ACC?
In the latest version of Coach Dave Delta, everything is automatic regarding setting up Delta to recognise iRacing or ACC. Which means you no longer need to sync your specific setup folders to Delta for the setups to appear in-game. It’s all done for you. So just start a session, and the setups will be there.
Q: How do I install the Coach Dave Delta plugin for Le Mans Ultimate (LMU)?
In the latest version of Coach Dave Delta, you no longer need any plugin for Le Mans Ultimate. Delta now automatically syncs everything up for you!
Q: Can I use Delta on console (PlayStation/Xbox)?
The Delta desktop app cannot run on consoles. However, if you have a valid subscription, you can use the Console Wizard for ACC, which is a web-based tool that displays setup values for you to manually enter into the game. Access it at https://coachdaveacademy.com/delta-console-wizard/ (login required). For ACC on console, the console wizard sits in the header of the Coach Dave Academy website, where you’ll find all cars and setups. Delta is also available for Gran Turismo 7 players, offering comprehensive data logging, telemetry, analysis, AI coaching and reference laps.
Q: Can I access Delta from a web browser or a second device?
Yes. You can view and analyse previous sessions via the web dashboard at https://delta.coachdaveacademy.com/dashboard from any device (PC, Mac, tablet, phone). However, live session recording and setup installation require the desktop app running on the same PC as your sim. The desktop app is available for Windows and macOS.
Setup Access & Troubleshooting
Common questions about finding, loading, and fixing setups across all supported sims.
Q: Why aren’t my setups appearing in-game after Delta says they’re installed?
The most common causes are: (1) LMU refresh bug in LMU’s Custom setup menu, try refreshing the setups when in the custom setup menu in-game. (2) You’re in a fixed setup series, where custom setups are not loadable in fixed races even if they appear in the menu.
Q: Why are my setups failing tech inspection in iRacing?
Setups fail tech when iRacing updates car physics, tyre models, or BoP, most commonly at season changes. For example, major GT3 updates in Season 3 made all old setups obsolete. To fix a failing setup, adjust the parameter flagged (ride height, camber, toe, spring perch offsets) by a few clicks in the direction indicated (even when it passes, it doesn’t mean the old setup will be very good). Always check that your setup starts with the current season designation (e.g., 26S1 for Season 1 2026). For best results, use the latest season setups from Delta rather than trying to salvage old ones.
Q: Why are setups not updating after a game physics or BoP change?
After major physics changes, old setups are removed and replaced with new ones (indicated by version numbers like 01→02 or CDA3→CDA4). Minor BoP changes may not require updates. For LMU, check #lmu-live-updates in Discord for progress after an update. Setups are released in batches as drivers complete each combo. For iRacing, new season setups are released at the start of each new week, so they are always up-to-date. Large overhauls (like LMU v1.2) require all combos to be redone, which takes time. Always ensure Delta is running when you join sessions so the latest version installs automatically.
Q: Are setups permanently saved, or do they disappear when I exit?
By default, Delta performs automatic cleanup when you exit the sim to prevent hundreds of outdated setups from accumulating. To keep a setup permanently, load it in-game and save it with a custom name. Delta will never touch files you’ve manually renamed. This is useful for endurance races, league events, or combos you run regularly. Note that manually saved setups may become outdated or fail tech inspection after future physics updates.
Q: Why is Delta showing ‘Waiting for session’ and not detecting my session?
Common causes: (1) VPN, antivirus or other software affecting the local network blocking Delta’s connection, disable them or add Delta as an exception; (2) Conflicting software, close SimHub, CrewChief, and wheel software (Moza/Fanatec) before launching Delta.
Q: Does an active subscription cover all setups for all supported sims?
Yes. A single Coach Dave Delta subscription gives you unlimited access to all setups for all supported sims with setups, currently iRacing, ACC, LMU, and AC Evo. There are no download limits and no separate tiers per sim. Individual car bundles are no longer sold; everything is included in the subscription. The iRacing 3-month coupon offer is no longer valid as of 2025. Your subscription also includes telemetry, leaderboards and AI coaching for AMS2, AC and GT7.
Understanding Setup Names & Types
A guide to decoding setup filenames and choosing the right setup for your situation.
Q: What do the letters and numbers in setup names mean (Q, R, S, E, M, YK, LB, etc.)?
Setup naming conventions in Delta: Q = Qualifying, R = Race, S = Safe, E = Endurance (longer races), W = Wet. Numbers like 01, 02, 03, 04 are revision numbers and higher = newer. RF = Race Fast, RS = Race Safe. CDA M (or just M) = Meta, our fastest, most aggressive setup on ACC. CDA4 = the standard, more drivable baseline. LFM setups are made on LFM’s custom BoP. For iRacing, YK = setup tweaked or approved by Yuri Kasdorp; LB = setups by Lasse Bak. 25S4/26S1 etc. indicates the season. SE = Special Event setup.
Q: What’s the difference between Meta (CDA M) and regular CDA4 setups in ACC?
Meta (CDA M) setups are purely lap-time focused, exploiting known physics quirks in ACC (e.g., min/max dampers, min springs, min camber) for maximum speed with less regard for drivability. CDA4 setups are more conservative, easier to drive, and designed for a wider range of skill levels, although they do also come in a safe and fast variant. LFM Meta setups use LFM’s custom BoP, while standard Meta/CDA4 setups use Kunos default BoP. If you’re finding the Meta setup tricky to drive, start with the CDA4 variants.
Q: What’s the difference between the in-game CDA preset and the Delta setups in LMU?
The in-game CDA preset (accessed via the CDA logo button in LMU’s setup screen) is the safe default setup, free for all players, designed for a wide range of skill levels. They are slightly better than the LMU default, but they are very safe, and there is only 1 setup in a (fit all) scenario. The Delta setups (found under the ‘Custom’ menu) are more aggressive lap-time focused race (R01) and qualifying (Q01) setups available only to Delta subscribers. These are highly tuned, esports setups designed to win you races.
Q: At what temperatures are setups optimised, and how do I adjust for different conditions?
For ACC: LFM/Meta setups are built at 23°C ambient / 27°C track. CDA4 setups are built at 24°C ambient / 32°C track. Delta auto-adjusts tyre pressures in ACC based on your session temperature, however, so your tyres are always optimal. For LMU: setups are generally created around 20°C ambient, but adjusting pressures in LMU is not needed. For iRacing: setups are optimised for official series conditions; you may need to manually adjust brake ducts, but iRacing always runs the pressures at the lowest possible. The temperature in ACC setup names (e.g., ’26c 27c’) shows the conditions at the time Delta installed and adjusted the setup.
Q: How do I adapt a setup for wet conditions?
Delta does provide dedicated wet setups for ACC and iRacing. Use them for wet condition racing, they are very different to a dry setup. If it is only slightly damp, then for ACC on v1.10 physics and most LMU cars, dry setups with wet tyres work best; no separate wet setup is needed. General wet-condition adjustments: add 1-2 clicks of wing, lower rear ride height, soften springs slightly, add rear positive toe, increase ABS and TC, and move brake bias slightly rearward. Test brake bias and TC first, as they have the biggest impact on stability. In a fixed setup series, you can only adjust electronics. For ACC wet tyre pressures, target hot pressures of 30–31 psi.
Setup Tuning – Handling & Balance
Practical guidance on adjusting setups to improve car balance and drivability.
Q: How do I reduce understeer or oversteer in my setup?
For understeer: stiffen the rear ARB/spring, soften the front spring/ARB, raise the rear ride height, or increase the front bumpstop range. For oversteer: soften the rear ARB/spring, lower the rear ride height, stiffen the front spring/ARB, add rear positive toe, or reduce rake. Small adjustments at a time are recommended. Brake bias changes also affect entry behaviour, so moving bias rearward increases rotation and reduces front locking, but can make the rear unstable under braking. Sometimes it’s just not that simple, and something else in the setup may need changing fundamentally.
Q: How do I make a setup less aggressive and more stable?
Start with the safe preset setup if available; they will be far more stable. If adjusting an aggressive setup: lower the rear ride height, soften the rear ARB, stiffen the front spring/ARB, add rear positive toe, reduce rake, and add wing. For entry oversteer specifically, move brake bias forward or raise the ABS setting. For mid-corner instability, adjust ARBs. For exit oversteer, lower rear ride height, add diff preload, and soften the rear ARB. Always make small, single-parameter changes and test each one. Brake bias changes can add stability under braking.
Q: How do I adjust tyre and brake temperatures with the setup?
For cold tyres: lower cold pressures by 2–3 clicks and close brake ducts slightly (but monitor temps). For hot tyres or brakes: open brake ducts and raise cold pressures slightly. In ACC, tyre temps should target 82–87°C; anything consistently over 90°C will cause significant performance loss. In LMU, brake heat does not transfer to tyre carcasses, so you cannot use braking to warm tyres; allow 2–3 laps for warm-up instead. Camber and toe have minor effects; ducts and pressures are the primary tools.
Tyre Pressures & Temperatures
Sim-by-sim guidance on managing tyre pressures and temperatures for best performance.
Q: What tyre pressures should I target in ACC?
Aim for hot pressures of 26.2–27.5 psi, ideally 26.8–27.1 psi for most GT3 and GT2 cars. Delta automatically adjusts cold pressures based on session temperature when setups are installed. If pressures are consistently low (below 26.5 psi), increase cold pressures by a click or two; you may be generating less heat than the setup creator. If pressures are consistently high (reaching 28+ psi), focus on smoother driving, reduce steering angle, and lower cold pressures by 2–3 clicks. The Delta tyre pressure widget shows your average pressures and highlights the optimal green zone for your conditions.
Q: What tyre pressures should I use in iRacing and LMU?
In both iRacing and LMU, always run minimum tyre pressures; it’s a ‘set and forget’ setting. Tyre pressure is not a meaningful variable in these sims (by design), so Delta setups already come with minimum pressures configured. In LMU, focus on tyre temperatures instead; keep them in the 80s°C and below 90°C. Consistently exceeding 90°C will cause performance to drop off.
Q: What are the optimal tyre temperatures in ACC, and how do I manage them?
Optimal dry tyre temperature in ACC is 82–87°C. Tyres start to come alive from around 70°C, and the high 70s to low 80s range is particularly effective. If temperatures consistently exceed 87°C, especially over 90°C, grip will degrade significantly. Managing tyre temperatures involves: smooth driving technique, appropriate brake bias, limiting steering angle (aim to stay under 90° in most corners), and, in extreme heat (40°C+ ambient), maximising brake duct opening even though this may compromise brake temperatures. For wet tyres, the target is 40–65°C.
Supported Cars, Series & Content
What’s covered, what’s not, and why certain content decisions are made.
Q: What Sims and series does Delta support?
Delta supports: iRacing (the most popular road, formula and short oval series). See the iRacing Catalogue button on the Delta homepage for the full setup list, as it changes every season. In ACC (all GT3, GT4, and GT2 content, along with all single-make cars, have setups). In LMU (Hypercars, LMP2, LMP3, LMGT3, and LMGTE all have setups). AC Evo has pro setups for all daily racing series. GT7, AMS2 and AC all have in some degree, leaderboards, pro reference laps, telemetry data and AI coaching, but no custom setups.
Q: Why don’t you support certain cars or series on iRacing?
Content decisions are data-driven, based on customer usage in Delta, iRacing participation and split numbers, available driver resources, and car competitiveness. Less popular cars and series, such as the Lamborghini GT3 or Aston GT4, are dropped or limited to preserve resources for more widely used content. For example, the Lambo is supported only for select weeks when it’s competitive, not every week, and we may only do setups for a car when it’s in a Special Event. All decisions are reviewed each season, and feedback plus usage stats drive future additions.
Q: Do you support setups for special events like Daytona 24, Spa 24, or Bathurst 12H?
Yes. Setups for all major endurance events on iRacing are released around 2 weeks before the event and tagged ‘SE’ in the name. Supported events include the Daytona 24, Spa 24, Bathurst 12H, Sebring 12H, Nürburgring 24, Watkins Glen 6H, Suzuka 1000km and Petit Le Mans. In total, we will cover over 15 of the biggest Special Events on iRacing this year.
Q: Can I use Coach Dave setups for offline/AI racing or leagues?
Yes. Setups work in any session type; online, offline, AI, or league races, as long as the series allows open setups. For iRacing, setups follow official series schedules, so if your league uses a different track, you may need to adapt a similar setup or use one from a previous season (available up to approximately 3 seasons back). Remember to save setups with a custom name if you want them to persist after leaving a session.
Leaderboards & Reference Laps
How leaderboards work, how to use pro reference laps, and what data they include.
Q: How do leaderboards work and what do they show?
Leaderboards show lap times from all Delta subscribers for a specific car/track/session-type combination. They update every 15–30 minutes globally. Your all-time best lap for a combo will persist until you set a faster time. Coach Dave pro drivers have a red ring around their times. Leaderboards do not account for BoP, ballast, fuel load, tyre compound, or assists; they’re purely based on lap time. For best comparisons, look at laps close to your own pace rather than only the absolute fastest times. If you appear as ‘Anonymous’, check your profile to ensure you haven’t opted out of leaderboards.
Q: How do I access the pro driver reference laps?
When in a session or reviewing your data, click the pro lap folder tab. This shows available pro driver laps for your current car/track combination. Each description includes session type, fuel level, tyre compound, date, time of day, weather conditions, and temperature. You can drag any pro lap into your analysis as a reference. Pro reference laps are there if we have setups for the car/track combo, or if we follow active racing schedules like on iRacing. If your combo isn’t on the current schedule, it may not have a pro lap yet, but community leaderboard laps or recorded replays are good alternatives.
Q: Why is there no pro reference lap for my car/track combination?
Pro reference laps follow specific racing schedules (iRacing weekly rotations, GT7 Daily Races, LMU daily/weekly events) rather than covering every possible combination. The team is relatively small and works to a schedule, so not all combos can be covered simultaneously. For GT7, pro laps are updated weekly, covering Daily Races A, B, and C. For iRacing, content is released weekly. For ACC and LMU, whenever there is an update, new setups are made as quickly as possible. If your combo isn’t covered, use community leaderboard laps or record a replay yourself in-game; both work as good reference lap bases.
Q: How often are reference laps and setups released for each sim?
iRacing: New season setups are typically available each week (which starts Monday). GT7: pro reference laps are updated once a week again to cover the daily race schedule changes. LMU: after a major physics update, setups and reference laps are released in batches as drivers complete each combo; track #lmu-live-updates in Discord for progress. ACC: setups are stable and updated only when physics change shifts significantly. Special event setups are released 2 weeks before an event on iRacing and LMU.
Q: Why was leaderboard data purged, and when does this happen?
Leaderboard data is purged before the start of a new iRacing season and during major game updates (like LMU v1.2) to remove lap times set on outdated physics models. Sometimes things like a start/finish line point moves, which means the lap times are out of sync, also. After a reset, it takes time for the community to repopulate the boards with new combinations, and low traffic may show no times initially. Your first lap on a combination will be the first entry on that leaderboard. If we find anomalies in lap times from users, they may be purged as well as they are not a true representation of genuine lap times.
Telemetry, Analysis & Overlays
Making the most of Delta’s data analysis tools and understanding what’s available now vs. coming soon.
Q: Does Delta have real-time in-game overlays?
Delta does not currently have in-game overlays, but overlays are actively on the roadmap. In the meantime, popular third-party overlay tools include: ACC Drive (most popular for ACC), Racelabs, Kapps (used in Coach Dave’s hotlap videos for iRacing), and Armamentario (free for ACC). Delta does have a tyre temperature overlay accessible from the Timing screen, and you can drag the Delta window to a second monitor to view live session data while racing. All telemetry, timing, and data analysis features are accessed in Delta either during a live session or after returning to the pits or garage.
Q: How do I use the AI insights and track map features?
Delta divides each lap into ‘sequences’ (single corners or groups of corners). You can click a sequence and zoom in on the map, and the AI then provides insights on where you’re losing time, broken down by phases: Braking, Entry, Apex, and Exit. Coloured dots on the track map represent these phases. Pressing the AI button before selecting a sequence gives you advice on how to improve and will take you to that exact point on the map; pressing it within a sequence gives corner-specific feedback. Toggle between your driving line and the reference line using the button in the middle of the track map controls.
Q: How do I share my session data with teammates or friends?
In Delta, we have the share & compare feature. From Session History, click ‘Share’ to generate a public link valid for 7 days; anyone can view this in a web browser at https://delta.coachdaveacademy.com without a subscription. Alternatively, click ‘export to save a .delta file and send it directly via Discord or email; recipients need an active subscription to load it in the app. You can also post laps in the #community-laps Discord channel. To receive a shared .delta file, use the Upload feature in the app.
Q: Why is Delta showing incorrect distances in AI suggestions?
These errors are caused by corrupt reference laps in Delta’s database; older reference files may have incorrect car coordinates, leading to wildly inaccurate distance or time-loss calculations. If you encounter this, report it in Discord or the Delta forum with the sim, car, track, and the reference lap time shown in Delta’s ‘Reference’ widget. Known corrupt references include the Ford Mustang GT3 at Suzuka in ACC and some LFM ballasted laps. Once fixed, reloading your session will use the corrected reference automatically. You can also manually select a different reference lap from the leaderboard or pro list to avoid the corrupt one.
Q: How do I fix Delta if it’s not working correctly (reset or reinstall)?
Try these steps in order: (1) Press Ctrl+Shift+R in Delta to force a full refresh. (2) Go to your Profile and press ‘Reset All Settings’, then re-link your game folders. (3) Close Delta and delete the file C:\Users\<username>\.coachdavedelta.settings.json, then restart. (4) For a full clean reinstall: uninstall Delta, delete the folders in AppData\Local\CoachDaveDelta and AppData\Roaming\CoachDaveDelta, then download and reinstall from the website. If Delta crashes or shows a white screen, add it to your antivirus exclusion list (especially BitDefender, Norton 360, and Windows Defender). If Delta won’t update, remove it from Windows Startup Apps and launch it manually from the Start Menu.
Accounts & Subscription Help
Q: Why can’t I access certain setups
