How To Use The Fuel Calculator in Delta

Coach Dave Delta has an advanced fuel calculator system that automatically tells you how much fuel you are using and what you can do with that information.

Calibrate The Calculator

What you need to do when you first, however, is join a session and complete a minimum of 3 consecutive laps with Delta open for it to calculate. Once you have done the minimum 3 lap requirement you can return to the pits and see what Delta has to say.

Key Metrics Begin To Populate

Once you have completed a minimum of three laps plus an out lap, data will begin to populate in the Fuel Estimator. This tool provides key metrics to help you develop effective race strategies. You’ll be able to view:

  • Session Average Fuel Consumption Per Lap: The average amount of fuel used per lap in the session.
  • Average Lap Time in the Session: The average time taken to complete a lap.

Using this data, the Fuel Estimator automatically generates projections for three predefined race durations: 25 minutes, 45 minutes, and 65 minutes. For each duration, it calculates:

  • Laps Required: The estimated number of laps you’ll complete within the specified duration.
  • Fuel Required: The total amount of fuel needed for the race.

This provides a solid foundation for planning your race strategy efficiently and effectively.

Customise The Calculator

Furthermore, to the predefined race lengths, you can fully customise the Race Duration and Laps Required with handy little arrows that appear as you hover over the two highlighted boxes. Handy if you already know the type of event you are entering.

This helps you even further if you are also trying to plan when to schedule a pitstop knowing that the amount of fuel you need exceeds the fuel tank of the car.

You can always go back out on track with different fuel loads already in the car to see how much fuel you are using per lap and how fast your average lap will be. This will be good to simulate the start of races on full fuel loads for example. The more laps you get under your belt, the better the Fuel Estimator will be at calculating your requirements.
